Our Services
Highpoint Health with Ascension Saint Thomas provides women’s health services across various departments to help women thrive. From imaging to gynecologic surgery or pelvic floor therapy, we provide comprehensive women’s services before, during and after the reproductive years. Our hospital services include:

Highpoint Health – Sumner provides care for high-risk babies through our partnership with Vanderbilt. This allows us to care for babies with gestational ages of 35 weeks and greater. We have available specialized RNs, physicians, respiratory therapists, social workers, and radiology staff. We can stabilize babies requiring advanced care prior to their arrival at Vanderbilt. We can also perform newborn ECHO tests, saving babies from a transfer to Vanderbilt.
We have an excellent medical staff of obstetricians, pediatricians and family practitioners, as well as experienced and well-trained nurses who welcome more than 700 babies into the world each year.
Our staff is always on call and is happy to answer your questions 24 hours a day.
Recommended Women’s Health Care by Age
While every woman’s health journey is unique, below are some general guidelines to help you understand what well-woman services are recommended for you based on your age. Talk to your primary care provider or women’s health provider to tailor this plan just for you or your family members.
- Ages 9-12 Years - Adolescents in this age range should get the HPV vaccine to help protect against six types of cancers.
- Age 21 - Pap smears begin and should be repeated once every three years to screen for cervical cancer.
- Age 40 - Women should begin receiving a mammogram once per year to screen for breast cancer.
- Age 45 - Regular screenings for colon cancer should begin, especially if you are at higher risk based on your family history and/or health condition.
- Age 65 - Bone mineral density testing for osteoporosis is recommended.
- Age 75 - Colon cancer screenings and pap smears may no longer be needed. Talk with your doctor to discuss your personalized screening recommendations.
